PLEASE NOTE: R.Pinkerton.US is a WORK IN PROGRESS...
Up until this particular Cosmic Phase of Existence R.Pinkerton has lived for one year in Tennessee, 4 years in Panama, 1 year in Alaska, 2 years in England, 3 years in Scotland, 2 years in Italy and Germany, 3 years in Spain, 1 year in Australia (first marriage and subsequent visit), 10+ years in Israel (2nd marriage), 2 years in Fort Knox Kentucky, 1 year in Florida, 10+ plus years in California and 9 years in New York City.
(Disclaimer: R.Pinkerton may or may not have previously denied "under oath" that he was ever a covert C.I.A. and/or Mossad Agent)
He currently resides in Wyoming where it's freezing a vast majority of the time.
A few years back while in Los Angeles, as his entre into 'show biz', R.Pinkerton was selected along with 29 others from amongst 50,000 plus applicants, to participate in the "Columbia Talent Program," a Potemkin Acting Ensemble/Contract Player's Program created by "bigwigs" at Columbia Pictures to hide their shame for its part in the David Begelman Scandal. This subsequently led to him studying with 33 different acting teachers over the next two decades, last working as a professional actor on some two dozen plus different television shows and movies in Israel.
Prior to that he performed stand up comedy some 86 times under various aliases while in the UK for three years , being shortlisted by the BBC as one of it's "Top New Comedians" (a/k/a "Sam Kennewick/Sam Hill/Sam Jones")(he was in the UK soley to follow his ex wife who had unilaterally taken their children there and, as he was never granted a work visa, he found that Stand Up Comedy performed under various pseudonyms provided him a semi-regular cash flow (albeit it illegally).
He wrote numerous articles for the UK/Scottish and Sunday Times, Herald and other periodicals, has optioned two screenplays, previously appeared on "Dallas" in numerous episodes with "JR" and once spent a rainy afternoon in bed (on set) with Joan Collins ("The Making of a Male Model")("Just call me Joanie!").
Along with being an Author, Actor, Playwright, Monologist, Poet and Cartoonist, R.Pinkerton was a well known International Model, once referred to by some in the biz as the "Handsomest Man in Europe."
It was during this incredibly brief period of time, living as one of "The Beautiful People," that he was booked to appear on the legendary Merv Griffin show in Hollywood: https://rpinkerton.us/my-time-as-an-actor%2Fmodel (please excuse the quality of both the video tape and of my schmaltzy performance).
Directly following his very successful appearance with Merv, R.Pinkerton was invited to visit the Talk Show King at his 50 acre Carmel Valley Hollywood Getaway, which he did on numerous occasions. While there, Merv introduced him to his son Tony, his sister Barbara and offered him a pathway to success ("The Wedge") ("You could be a regular on my show") that contained questionable conditions that the young aspirant could not confuse (and for which he wrote a full length play entitled "Do You Or Don't You").
Shortly after this he took, passed and obtained his California Real Estate License (first try), quickly finding employment at the 21st Century Real Estate office in Santa Monica, California. After two days on the job he quit, feeling the requisite "Golden Blazer" uniform and "slick sales talk" to be morally offensive.
Like his Father Sgt. Wilbur F. Pinkerton (who served 33 Years in the U.S. Army (crossed at Normandy in WWII, served in Korea and Viet Nam and taught at the "School of Assassins" in Panama)), his Mother (3 years British Army) and Three Brothers (Air Force, Coast Guard, Navy), R.Pinkerton also is a Veteran of the U.S. Navy, honorably serving his country as a Hospital Corpsman (a/k/a "Penis Machinis/Pecker Checker"), spending his time working at the Balboa Naval Hospital in San Diego ("The Pink Palace of Pain") in its Thoracic Surgery Ward ("Gaping Chest Wounds"). Subsequent to active duty he spent several years working as a Weekend Warrior/USNaval Reservist at the USN Reserve Center in Monterey California.
He was once, amongst many many occupations, a Denny's Manager, Berlitz Teacher in Israel, Medical Transcriptionist, Paper Boy, Bus Boy, Pizza Delivery Boy, Home-Boy, Gardner, Driving Range Attendant, Sperm Donor, a Carnie and, was once "Gonged!" by the comedian Sinbad on "The Gong Show!" where he played the Washboard in a hillbilly band called "The Hog Farmers") (admittedly, Mr. Pinkerton was never, much to his chagrin, a Mama's Boy, and has several years of Freudian therapy to prove it).
After a reading of his first play "The Riots Are Coming," R.Pinkerton (a/k/a "Sam Pinkerton in the theatre world) was hailed as "a powerful new voice" by the prestigious New York Theatre Workshop, its dramaturge Chiori Miyagawa predicting he would be a "famous American playwright within two years."
He was also simultaneously chosen as a finalist for a prestigious One-Year Fellowship at the Jerome Foundation in Minnesota.
As fate would have it he instead married an incredibly well-connected German/Jew Israeli Banking Heiress (in the Hebrew "protexia") who unilaterally took their child-to-be to her home in Tel Aviv Israel so she could be near "Ima" (mommy). Rather than fight for Fatherhood from afar, he instead forewent his seemingly sure-fired success as a New York Playwright by spending 2001-2016 going to court some 40+ times in four different countries and two different languages (three languages, if you factor in "Scottish"), all in an effort to stay a successful hands-on father.
Which he most proudly is.
His one bit of truly sage advice, for those who are interested:
"Never - EVER - sign the prenuptial."
R.Pinkerton was born into his father's Fundamentalist Christian community of Murfreesboro Tennessee, a once segregated Southern town filled with ubiquitous KKK affiliations, ensconced in a location now occupied, ironically, by an Islamic Mosque and Cemetery.
Fortunately for him, his three brothers and two sisters, his Welsh speaking immigrant mother moved them all to California when he was but a year old.
Currently R.Pinkerton enjoys spending his days being bitter, alone and, separately, sharing quality time with his family while working on his soon to be published memoir entitled "Be Careful What You Wish For," which chronicles his time spent being married into one of the richest families in the world.
